Negotiation is an art in Arab countries. We recommend you negotiate when you go shopping; in some cases, you can purchase a product for half the original price.

Tea, along with coffee, is the favorite drink of the Turkish people. In some shops, vendors may offer you a glass of tea, which is a symbol of friendship and hospitality.

Clothing made from natural fibers, such as cotton or linen, in light colors is ideal for city visits or when you choose to take an optional excursion. Hats and sunglasses are mandatory.

Taxi transport doesn't involve high costs, although in touristically developed areas there are still drivers who try to charge higher fares.

Drones weighing less than 500 grams can be used within the territory of Turkey. For drones exceeding this weight, you need prior approval from the Turkish Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

Costs for phone calls/messages/internet are high if you choose to use the mobile network within the country. We recommend you purchase a local SIM card.

Visa-free regime

Citizens of the Republic of Moldova do not need a visa for tourism / transit / stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period throughout the territory of Turkey.

Accepted documents
  • You may enter using either a valid passport or a national identity card (ID card).
  • It is recommended that the document be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry into Turkey, although this is not an absolute requirement under the visa-free regime.
Additional documents may be requested at the border, such as:
  • return ticket
  • proof of accommodation (hotel voucher)
  • proof of sufficient financial means for the duration of the stay
Rules of stay
  • If you exceed the 90-day limit, you must contact the immigration police to obtain a specific residence permit (usually called “ikamet”).
Safety advice
  • avoid demonstrations, protests, and public gatherings that may become unpredictable;
  • avoid sensitive areas near the borders with Syria and Iraq in southeastern Turkey;
  • remain vigilant in crowded tourist areas (Istanbul, Antalya, etc.).
